Scout Amateur Radio Station OE3SCOUT will be active 1-11 August 2016 at PINAKARRI jamboree

OE3SCOUT Sonderstation beim PINAKARRI in Laxenburg bei WienPINAKARRI – the International Jamboree 2016 of the Lower Austrian Scouts and Guides – will take place from 1 to 11 August 2016 at Laxenburg, about 2km south-east of Vienna. More than 3000 participants from 10 different nations are expected for this international jamboree.

A special Scout Amateur Radio Station of the Club Telescout (CTS) with the special event callsign OE3SCOUT will be active at PINAKARRI jamboree too. In addition to workshops for the jamboree participants repeater operation on VHF/UHF and primarily shortwave operation for international contacts with 100 watts on 10-80 meters are planned. A twin dipole for 40 and 80 meters as well as a spiderbeam antenna for the higher shortwave bands on 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20 meters will be used to get worldwide ham radio contacts.

During the period of the jamboree we have also get the „permission to talk via radio“ for all scouts and guides by the BMVIT – the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology – when using the special event callsign OE3SCOUT. That means that participants of the jamboree in Laxenburg are allowed to talk to the microphone transmitting greeting messages supervised by a licensed ham radio operator. Of course all ham radio contacts with OE3SCOUT will be confirmed with a special QSL card via the bureau.

Sunday, August 7th is Visitor’s Day on PINAKARRI from 10 am to 4 pm local time and a good chance to make a visit to the Scout Amateur Radio Station OE3SCOUT. We expect up to 5000 visitors on the camp whom we would like to show camp life.
