JOTA-Funkverbindung mit der Internationalen Raumstation ISS

Man soll es nicht für möglich halten, beim JOTA 2002 machte Jan Glade, PD1AIQ mit seiner Jamboree-Station PA3HGQ/j eine 144 MHz Direkt-Verbindung mit der internationalen Raumstation ISS. Er ließ dabei auch einige Pfadfinder der "Ascanen Scoutgroup" aus Lelystad, die in der Funkstation anwesend waren, ans Mikrofon, um mit der Astronautin Peggy, NA1SS zu sprechen und eigene Fragen zu stellen ! Dieses Video wurde nur mit einer einfachen Webcam gemacht.

"It was a job of two years to get all arranged. First we had the US government who was asking of it was legal to get scouts at the microphone. Next was the ARRL who was asking almost the same. Step 3 was to get time from the astronauts, I had asked for time during an official scouting event. The first steps took almost a year, and the last step the rest of time. But finally we had the opportunity to make the contact. And what the most important was, the scouts could ask there own questions ! That was the first time on this planet that a scout was asking his own question DIRECT TO AN ASTRONAUT."
Die Internationale Raumstation ISS
Commander Valery Korzun, Flugingenieurin Peggy Whitson und Flugingenieur Sergei Treschev
In der Raumstation ISS war die US-Ingenieurin Peggy Annette Whitson - eigenes Call KC5ZTD - und beantwortete direkt die Fragen der einzelnen Pfadfinder.
Nicht nur für die Scouts war das dann doch das Größte, als Peggy laut und deutlich aus dem All zu hören war und sofort auf die einzelnen Fragen reagierte - wann spricht man schon mit einer echten Astronautin ?
